2.1 Presenting the problem and speaking aloud is an example of a scaffolding technique appropriate for Grade 5 students. In this case, I should be able to determine my students' level of understanding of the lesson so that I can model out problems as an important part of the scaffolding. When demonstrating how to solve a problem, I should be able to present my teachings to such groups using body action, language, and images. Furthermore, I should vividly explain the problem in a way that appears to be easily understood through the use of verbal and nonverbal cues, as well as graphic demonstrations such as maps and flow charts.

2.2 Formal assessments all seem to be systematic, standardized, and scored evaluations of what and how well candidates have learned. Formal assessments confirm students' proficiency or mastery of the content and can be used to compare to standards, standardized tests, and criterion referenced tests.

Quizzes, assignments, and live projects are examples of formal assessments. Determining the type of formal assessments you want to use, as well as the tools you will use to administer them, is an important part of course planning.
