Poets have several instruments at their disposal. Rhythm is one of those tools. This lesson will teach you why rhythm is essential and how it may affect the overall impact of a poem. Consider the most recent chat you had with your pals. You probably conveyed your feelings using speech that came to mind as you spoke the words. Will you recall those words a year from now or 10 years from now? Will such remarks have an impact on your thoughts and emotions? Normal speech isn't designed to achieve all of those things, but poetry can since it's an art form in which each word is carefully picked and weighted for maximum effect.
