4 practical environmental sustainability activities that you can do with your class within your school environment(buildings and school grounds), towards goal 12
1. Organize a local food day: the class can collaborate with local food trucks, restaurants, and farms to provide local food to school on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. This would allow children to learn about and enjoy the benefits of eating healthy foods from the community while also supporting local small businesses.
2. Setting up cleanup days in the school environment: the class can volunteer to pick up trash that has accumulated around the campus. This can provide information about reuse and recycling.
3. Planting trees: this sustainability activity communicates the class's concern for the environment, raises knowledge of the necessity of planting and saving trees in society, and reduces the negative consequences of climate change.
4. Invest in air quality meters: the class can generate funds and encourage the school to invest in air quality meters with the support of other students and our parents. Such meters have a significant impact in informing the school of any critical air quality issues, such as elevated CO2 levels or increased moisture, which can lead to mold growth.
