Legacy of Apartheid Spending In the Township

Indeed the statement is valid to the same extent. This is because the development rate in townships today in South Africa is low compared to the development of learning institutions of other areas in major cities of the country. Although there are efforts to develop the townships, in the apartheid period there was propaganda that the regime was focus on developing these areas yet the development of learning institutions was at a very slow pace compared to other areas where the development was much faster. The bottom line here is that townships are still being underfunded in terms of school development (Mahajan, 2014).

Education-wise, their education just as it was during apartheid it is today that the educated people are commonly found in other areas of prestige. Only a few people become educated to the level of degree. Despite the country being the leader of development and education in the continent, the number of illiteracy in townships is still at an alarming high. It is true that there has been some development in these townships but not up to ensures that the areas catch up with other well-developed areas (Scheba, & Turok, 2020). The difference in school development should be bridged by ensuring more funds go to the underdeveloped township school.
