In this scenario, the teacher takes the role of a zookeeper and says to a Foundation Phase class: “Oh no, the monkeys are loose! What can we do?” This scenario opens the door to creativity and free play, but also sets young children up for a lifetime as learners, problem-solvers and artists.

The teacher-in-role challenges learners to use creativity and critical thinking through dramatic play. This strategy is used to help children to solve a problem. Ask intentional, open-ended questions to guide learners’ exploration and create a safe environment in which failure and revision are part of the process.

I would integrate music in this scenario with the following ways;

Identity the problem, in this scenario the main problem is that monkeys are loose and way has to be found to them back, therefore the learner have to find a way to that.

Plan the solution, i together with the learners have to find a solution on how to get back the monkeys into the zoo

Build the solution, as team we have to build and work on how we are going to tackle the problem

Test the solution, we therefore have to put our plan into work to see if it's going to help out

If our method doesn't work we would improve our plan to make it work.

If it works we will share our solution to help in similar scenarios
