I agree to the statement that “The prejudices, stereotypes and insensitivity depicted in the above extract, make this short story unsuitable for intermediate learners.” The story starts in a way confusing since it is not open who is whispering and where the statement laughing hehind the back applies in this story. Matthew literary translated the meaning to mean the girl who was behind Jodie. The story start in a middle of a session since Biller comments that his daddy works in a bank. It is not clear what the teacher and asked and why Jodie’s laugh was not discussed in the story. It is also not clear why other students were looking at Jodie.
