Industrial and manual education refers to the form of vocational training which prepares a person to follow a trade or an industrial pursuit more successfully. It is a dual system of learning between industry and school where education is imparted from an industry perspective. In an industry-oriented education system, conventional subjects are taught in the context of application of that knowledge to product design, development and operation. Industrial and manual education takes place in a variety of industries such as: carpentry, masonry, automotive technology, cosmetology and electrical and manual construction among many others. Among several other purposes, industrial education is often perceived as a means of enabling students know and understand their industries' demands as well as providing employers with better trained and more adaptable personnel.
