My teaching philosophy
Higher education, in my opinion, is fundamentally about going beyond content mastery. I put in a lot of effort to establish a learning atmosphere that encourages critical thinking and problem solving. Students must grasp not just the facts offered in books and lectures, but also the questions they must ask based on the knowledge they acquire in order to become engaged members of society.I anticipate pupils to become self-directed learners who will tap into their natural curiosity about the content and push it even farther.I regard myself and our classroom work as a springboard for their further investigation.
To do so, I use interactive teaching tools and practical learning chances to provide material in the most captivating way possible.I use professionals from the subject of study to provide real-world examples.I mention at the start of each semester that I expect students to take an active role in their learning by asking questions and going beyond what is covered in class.
Bonus points are awarded for active engagement in class, and I keep track of which students ask questions or propose new ideas. In most classes, I require students to explain a problem and provide a creative solution as part of the final project. This necessitates independent investigation and the capacity to communicate their findings in a way that others can comprehend.
I use standard tests to assess subject comprehension in addition to keeping track of student participation.I do, however, offer an essay question that measures students' capacity to think beyond the material provided.I want them to participate actively in their learning, and I evaluate their final project accordingly.
I also ask students for input on how I deliver information and how they finish projects.
At the halfway point and at the end of the semester, I conduct anonymous surveys to check that I am meeting their needs and properly communicating expectations.I emphasize my dedication to continuous development on a frequent basis, and I encourage students to provide me with feedback during office hours. Through these methods, I hope to exceed their expectations as an instructor.
