Yes, technology is important in 21st century classroom because of the following reasons:
- Technology has offered educators with a range of opportunities to modify how students receive and express their knowledge inside the classroom. The present generation was born into a technological era in which practically every home had a cellphone and a personal computer. As a result, they have been able to develop abilities that enable them to quickly adjust to the rapid speed of technological change in our society. Instantaneous access to information is possible. Gone are the days of sifting through a plethora of sources because everything is now at their fingertips. As a classroom instructor, it is critical to assist in the development of abilities that will transition into their professional lives.
- With the advancement of technology in the workplace, students will almost certainly be confronted with a new model of the workplace. The idea of working from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., showing up five days a week, and travelling 20 miles a day in heavy traffic no longer makes sense (Laureate Education, 2015). Thousands of people can work from home instead of commuting because to remote access. Businesses can continue to function while on the road thanks to computers. Traditional learners were not molded for this and had to do additional IT course afterwards
- Teachers and students can use technology to access a wide range of instructional tools that encourage creativity, critical thinking, communication, and cooperation. In the end, it introduces students and teachers to new worldwide online communities. As a result, global awareness is promoted, which is an important component of a 21st-century education.
- Differentiated instruction can be made considerably easier with the help of instructional technology. It's possible to make it a reality! Differentiated instruction allows students to receive a customised education that meets them where they are developmentally. This sort of training can assist a larger number of students. Students can also gain access to rich information through the use of technology.
- Technology in the classroom can help students take a more active role in their learning by transforming the classroom experience from a traditional teacher-centered one to a student-centered one. The teacher becomes more of a guide in a student-centered classroom as the pupils engage with and handle the day's curriculum.
