in chapter 12 of things fall apart , the festivities/ ceremonies are quite different. the wrestling matches and even the feast of the yam are seen to be female-centered, revolving around the bride ,Okonkwo's friend, and her mother. This gives some 'special' attention to the female gender during uri ritual. through this aspect, the community at large shifts its focus to females and not only to men.
