The teacher can modify instruction based on what works and what does not for each learner. The teacher can establish a design instruction that changes based on the needs of learners by utilizing the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which enhances and optimizes teaching and learning for all people, primarily on scientific insights on how humans learn (Fornauf & Erickson, 2020). For example, the teacher can implement UDL by attempting to utilize varying methods to deliver direct instruction part of the class lesson, demonstrate through a video clip in another portion of the lesson and make learners take part in listening to each other’s podcasts. The teacher can also allow students to choose their activities and set their own goals to learn the required materials. Students who happen to retain information better after hearing and those with disabilities that interfere with writing can utilize free text reader or the voice to text tools in Google Documents (Fornauf & Erickson, 2020). Also, the teacher can have documents online for easy access by parents and special educators of learners who need assistance at home with classwork.
