2 factors to consider in promoting learner development in the use of english in the classroom
There are several factors to be considered when promoting learning using English in classrooms. These factors include;
1) Motivation of the learner – it is important to consider whether the learner enjoys using English in their learning sessions. We need to question whether the learner feels comfortable when English language is the mode of teaching /learning. When they are comfortable with it, they tend to understand and learn faster.
2) Prior knowledge of the language – while leaners can comprehend a new foreign language, most of them find some difficult in fully understand the concepts of a new language therefore making the learning process slow. Students are also not likely to grasp concepts of the new language such as pronunciation.
