Use two examples of your own to explain how phonemic
awareness and semantics can prevent miscommunication in the use of English.
Phonemic awareness and semantics play a vital role in sounding and reading of new words used in the sentence construction. Understanding the relationship between letters and sounds helps young readers to differentiate meanings of words and avoid miscommunication. For instance, replacing glow with grow could distort the meaning of a sentence. Phonemic awareness helps to avoid unnecessary interchanging of Sound /l/ and /r/, which can lead to miscommunication. Furthermore, being able to blend and manipulate sounds helps one to develop ability to decode and understand a message. For instance, one will be able to understand the difference between cut and cat in a sentence.
