A) Describe a cellular network, its principle components and how it works.
A cellular network is a communication network where the link to and from end nodes is wireless. A cellular network is structured into a network of radio base stations forming the base station subsystem, the core circuit-switched network for handling voice calls and text, and a packet-switched network for handling mobile data. These base stations provide the cell with the network coverage which can be used for the transmission of voice, data, and other types of content. A cell typically uses a different set of frequencies from neighboring cells, to avoid interference and provide guaranteed service quality within each cell.
B) Explain the benefits of a cellular network to a business.
Cellular networks offer workers greater flexibility enhances workflows, improve communications, and help to make users more efficient and productive. These networks in business also provide organizations with a competitive edge, as faster and more collaborative communications enable companies to make faster decisions. The benefits of cellular networks can be categorized into:
a) 4G - fourth-generation data transmission services deliver high data rates equivalent to fast broadband networks.
b) 3G - third-generation data transmission services deliver fast data rates equivalent to standard broadband networks.
c) global positioning system (GPS) - allows the position of a device to be precisely located.
