As the deputy minister for education discussfour programmes that you will put in place to ensure that the gender gap is science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is bridged
With regards to STEM, it is clear that more boys than girls partake those subjects. Therefore, the four programs that i may implement are, Introduce an empowerment program, incorporate mentorship programs, create organized focus groups and lastly, introduce benefits for individuals in the field of STEM. Empowerment programs will help give an overview of what is expected in the filed, what is interesting and create the perspective that both boys and girls can do and excel in STEM. Moreover, mentorship programs will help in motivation of the girls, more so when you bring other girls who have excelled to come and talk and motivate the other girls. In addition, focus groups will help bridge the gap of command and that issues gender are taken seriously and given first priority. As as a way to reduce gender gap, i will also introduce benefits like full scholarship programs for the students who excel in this field so as to encourage more and more students regardless of gender to join and do their best.
