Which factors are linked to traits, such as low empathy or impulsiveness, that increase the probability of criminal behaviour?
Criminal behaviour is the manner in which a person behaves which can lead to unlawful Act. It normally occurs when there is a motive, opportunity and means for one to commit a crime. Therefore, several factors have been linked to traits which lead to the increase in criminal behaviour such as low self-esteem, dysfunctional family and anti-social personality. To begin with, low self-esteem can lead into depression since a person loses confidence. This might force them to do things they didn't plan such as drug abuse which is illegal. Anti-social values or criminal thinking is another major factor where the criminal believes that their criminal behaviour was justified. They blame others for their negative behaviour.
Furthermore, dysfunctional family has also contributed to increase in criminal behaviour due to lack of family support emotionally which might have resulted to child abuse or child neglegince.
