However, in the US, there exists a patchwork of both state and federal laws that protect individuals right to privacy when online such as the Electronic Communication s Privacy Act (ECPA) enacted in 1986. The law protects particular oral, wire, and electronic communications from unauthorized interception, use, access and disclosure. Other laws that supplement the UN Human Rights on privacy in the technological world comprise of the Computer Fraud & Abuse Act (CFAA) established in 1986, The Federal Trade Commission Act (FTC) enacted in 1914, Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ( COPPA) formulated in 1998 and among the most recent, Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) initially introduced in 2011.
