A teacher can establish and maintain contact with the parents of the learners through:
Enhancing parent-teacher communication strategies. These include; initiating contact with parents as soon as they identify the leaners in their class for that school year. Communication can be done through a letter to the home and an introductory phone call to parents where the teacher establishes expectations (American Federation of Teachers, 2007). As soon as the teacher identifies a problem with their learner, they should develop a timely solution. They can give parents frequent feedback about their children's performances in class. Follow-through is another strategy. Both teachers and parents want to see that each perform the duties they said they would. Finally, the teacher can clarify information to parents in the best message was they can understand.
