Most people who undergo Gender-Based Violence, especially women, cannot disclose it to health care and GBV providers due to social norms that blame them for the assault (Perrin et al., 2019). When a woman is abused sexually, society says she either was not dressed modestly or walked outside alone at night. Some norms also protect the family honor rather than the survivor's safety and accept GBV as an expected part of the conflict. When a man hits a woman, some societies say that it showcases his role as the head of the family; hence it is normal. I can help those currently experiencing GBV by following the GBV referral pathway to inform them about the availability of GBV services and refer if permitted by the survivor. To help them, I will consider that all actions taken must be guided by the survivor's wishes, choice, rights, and dignity.
