Self-Compassionate Letter. Make a self-compassionate letter and make a
reflection paper about it.
Dear Alex
I hope this situation will change in future. Sometimes i just watch other people talk in public how confident and relaxed they are and i ask my self am "Alex are you really a mammal?". If i were a mammal like the rest of the humans are couldn't I be more courageous in public. I can't even tolerate a five minute stare from a group of more than 20 people. I remember how i stood in church to read a verse on psalms. In the midst of my reading i accidentally raised my eyes that were glued to the bible and looked the church. I saw one of my friends whispering something on to another friend's ear. I am sure they were talking about me. Another time i was to receive an award in public. I took the price and couldn't even face the camera that was placed in the middle of the audience. The pictures from the occasion up to date irritate me. Couldn't i just face the camera for five seconds?
Anyway Alex you know you are improving little by little. As they say it is not going to happen overnight. However, practice makes perfect. You recall how you were able to ask a question in the schools auditorium and it caused immense reaction. Of course you don't care about the reaction what concerns you is that you gained courage to speak louder in public. Next time Alex you should target asking question while turning around trying to create attention. Take your time Alex . Do not be hasty and turn out a coward.
yours truly,
Alex
Reflection
The letter is centered about public speaking and how it can create self dissatisfaction and self hate. Basically, according to the author public speaking is an attribute that makes you more human. Anyone without the ability to talk courageously in public should be eliminated from the scientific mammal group. According, to the letter, there is no worse thing than knowing your are poor at something. It makes you continue to make false judgment on yourself. For instance, it is not clear what the friends were whispering about at the church but the author concludes they were talking about him. however, If you know your are poor even the obvious is seen as a major achievement. in the letter, asking a question in the auditorium is an overrated achievement.
