A chorus of car hooters can be compared to the carefree chatter of a busy marketplace where every seller's objective is to shout the loudest. The result is a disturbing noise where buyers cannot make sense of anything. The hooting is a sign of frustration and it only escalates the situation. However loud the vehicles hoot, there is little or no effect on the dynamics that control traffic. In essence, it is a waste of time and should be considered sound pollution.
