Like an ectoparasites, social media also may cause a disturbance, resulting in reduced growth and loss of condition because the time spent in avoidance behaviour is lost. There is a strong link between social media and an increased risk for depression, anxiety, loneliness, self-harm, and even suicidal thoughts.
