Step 1: Maintain proper hand hygiene

Viruses and bacteria get attached to our hands whenever we come into contact with surfaces. This viruses and bacteria are microscopic and they can be transferred from person to person. When they get into the body they cause various illnesses and diseases. Washing hands regularly using soap and running water eliminates the virus and bacteria. This practice should be maintained at all times and not only when our hands are soiled with dirt.

Step 2: Avoid coughing and sneezing using the hands

Sneezing and coughing may seem as something normal which everyone experiences but when done in the wrong way it can be hazardous and can be a medium for transmission of diseases. Droplets released by an infected person when coughing and sneezing are spread on surfaces used by other people and this leads to widespread of the disease.Covid-19 can be transmitted this way and it is always recommended to sneeze into our elbow or a tissue which you can then dispose later.

Step 3: Stay indoors if you feel unwell

If anyone is feeling sick it is always advisable to stay at home. Going outside exposes someone to harmful conditions and substances that may deteriorate the condition of the patient. Also, the sick person is likely to spread the illness to other people. Diseases lower the immunity of the body hence it is easy for a sick person to contract Covid-19. Staying at home when sick ensures one is not exposed therefore giving him or her a better chance to recover from the ailment.

Step 4: Always wear a mask when in public

Sometimes it is not possible to stay indoors. People have to go to work or get supplies from grocery stores or the supermarket. During this time we are in contact with very many people and wearing a mask protects us from getting the virus in case we come into close contact with other people.

Step 5: Avoid touching the nose, ears and mouth

Since the virus is spread by touching contaminated surfaces using our hands, it is always advisable to avoid touching our face because the virus can be transmitted this way. This is not a simple behavior to adopt since we are always used to touch our face, but it is a necessary precaution measure to avoid contracting the disease.
