RE: THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY TODAY

Technology has revolutionized the life of man and made it much easier in various fields. However, technology is equally associated with specific disadvantages that should be discussed to make the debates on technology conclusive. 

Although a large percentage of the population consider technology a blessing, it has caused much inconvenience to specific people in the society. For instance, the aged have been locked out by technology due to the fact that they are unable to adapt as fast as younger people. Older people cannot use smartphones and other computer devices as efficiently as younger people. As analogue phones are phased out older generations become inconvenienced.

Technology is also associated with specific environmental and health hazards. Electronic waste has become an environmental threat as the government struggle with strategies to deal with the ever increasing waste from electronic devices. Some of these devices contain toxic substances such as mercury that are environmental pollutants. Technology as also led to the popularization of the use of nuclear energy. Radiation from nuclear wastes has been associated with various types of cancer.

Technology is both a blessing and a curse and it is crucial to address the disadvantages and find ways to mitigate the negative effects of technology.
