Give two examples of meta-ethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics.
Meta-ethics attempts to understand the assumptions attached to morality and moral attitudes. An example of meta-ethics is why one should opt to support their elderly parents or are justified to lie to protect their loved ones. On the other hand, normative ethics relates to the rules determining what is right or wrong. For example, do scientists have an obligation to ensure ethical practice in laboratory experiments on animals but must ensure they develop suitable vaccines. Another example of challenging normative ethics is killing someone can be made to appear as an accident. Lastly, applied ethics relates to ethical situations with controversial outcomes. Key examples under this category include the ethical and legal implications of various types of abortion, the death penalty, and medical induced death.
