Modern-day classroom incorporates learners from diverse background and cultures, with this unique nature presenting a challenge to teachers in fostering an inclusive learning environment. The cultural difference between the teacher and the learners creates a scenario where cultural assumptions create barriers to productive interactions. As a teacher, inadequate knowledge of the culture involved and assumptions to generalize students based on ethnicity, religion and sexuality creates a blind spot while fostering a multicultural and inclusive classroom. However, these cultural assumptions are integral in shaping how learners approach their peers from different diversities by showing tolerance and understanding of key differences.
