Why it is Important for Teachers Not to Have Sexual Relationship with Learners

Teachers should not have sexual relationships with students because such affairs disrupt the learners from their studies. Moreover, a teacher-student sexual relationship is a crime especially when the learner has not attained the age of consent. Additionally, such relationships subject students to undue pressure to protect or impress the teacher. Lastly, the sexual relationship forces a teacher to treat the student lover differently, sometimes fairly, and at times harshly than other learners.

Consequences of teacher-student sexual relationships

1.     Such relationships may lower students’ self-esteem.

2.     Staining of the teacher’s reputation.

3.     Teachers may lose their jobs once the authorities become aware they are engaging in romantic relationships with students.
