Unity: A national language unites a nation’s people and make them distinct from other nations. 

Easy of communication: A national language breaks the communication barrier of speaking in different dialects.

Disadvantages 

Adopting a national language creates monotony as people would be bored listening to same sounds and dialects. Moreover, people would lack secrecy while speaking a common language. A national language would stop innovation and growth of language.
