The body consists of cells that combine into tissues, tissues forms organs, and organs combine organ systems. Together, they form an integral organism. This system is relatively stable, although it consists of many organs, tissues, and cells. Cells similar in structure, having a common origin and performing the same functions are combined into tissues. Most tissues are composed of cells and intercellular substance of various structures. Tissues are groups of cells that are similar in structure and origin, fulfilling a specific function and interconnecting intercellular substance. Tissues form organs, and groups of organs that perform similar functions comprise organ systems.
