Praying-pray: the verb praying is used to describe a past action or a present continuous. The case is future tense hence pray is the correct verb form.

The-my: The is a definitive determiner for people that have been mentioned prior, they be familiar or unfamiliar to the speaker. However, these are the speakers’ friends therefore, my is the more relevant determiner because it attaches the friends to the reader.

Staying-stay: Staying refers to a present continuous or a past continuous tense. In this case past perfect, tense that is stay, more relevantly.

Plan-planned. Plan is a verb form of present continues, while the case is past perfect tense, hence planned

a-an: a is used before a word that starts with a consonant sound while an applies for a words that starts with a vowel, in this case Unfortunate, starts with a vowel, therefore an is the correct article.
