Fray Jupinero Serra view nature as a force that is influenced by God. Every aspect of nature balances off eventually, just like his desires to lead, preach and baptize new people became a reality when he was commission to Mexico. In the same way, he believed that despite negative impact of Catholism on the Indians, the would adore and become part of the new religion. He also believed that, just like it is an aspect of nature, the Indiana owned the land and not the government at the time, and that the natives would have their land back eventually. This actions are after the separation of missionary and government. The main role that his belief plays in his narrative is that, it defines his leadership and missionary, rather than forcing the natives in to the new religion, he showed them what it my be like and let them experience his faith and become part of the new religion.
