The story’s heartbreaking end reveals the frailty of goodness and worldly happiness for Theseus. He becomes a more multifaceted figure who outlooks his previous, simple responsibility of a hero. Besides, in my opinion, I think the gods should punish him. They should punish him since he makes a tragic error towards the end and yet he previously meant well to all the people of Athens. Also, he fails to raise the right flag due to his recklessness and this assumes a fatal route against somebody he loved.
