Displacement is defined as the capability of language to communicate about things that are not immediately present.  Good examples of displacements are angles, Santa’s, Superman, heaven or hell.

Prevarication in language is defined as the ability to lie or deceive. For example when a child breaks a kitchen window he may use prevarication to avoid telling her mother the whole truth about how the kitchen got broken.
