The poem Dream Variations by Langston Hughes uses figurative language to express the singers wish for carefree life away from color persecution and racial discrimination. His prime theme is to set a contrast between light and dark. He use the two terms to suggest the white and black culture being practiced in America. The term “ White day” in the poem can be viewed to refer to a common sunny day. However looking on the theme of the poem the term “White day” means a workday world where all the dominating positions are occupied by the white people.
