The winter heating requirement of a small rural building is about 5 kW. This could
be provided by either electric heaters or liquefied propane gas (LPG) heaters.
Using the following assumptions, show that the CO2 released per hour by the gas
heater would be about a third of that due to electric heating.

Assumptions
 The gas heater operates at a gas-to-useful heat efficiency of 66%.
 The combustion of propane releases 65 grams of CO2 per MJ of heat
produced.
 The electricity is considered 100% useful in heating the building.
 The electricity is generated in a coal-fired power station with an overall coalto-
delivered electricity efficiency of 30%.
 The combustion of coal releases 88 grams of CO2 per MJ of heat produced.
Determine the force, F in lbf, required to lift a five gallon bucket full of water from rest with an
acceleration of 3 m/s . Ignore the mass of the bucket.
Determine the acceleration of the 80 lbm block on the inclined surface (be sure to indicate which
way the block is traveling). Attached to the block is a 55 gallon drum full of water; the cable is
parallel to the inclined surface between points A and C. μk = 0.2

A stadium has internal dimensions of 11 m x 4 m x 3 m high. The doors in this construction occupy 6m2 and 20% of the wall area is glazed. The inside air temperature is maintained at 18°C when the outside air temperature is -2°C. There are 4 air changes per hour. Total heat gain for the building is 2200W. The U-values in W/m.K are: walls 1.6, windows 5.5, doors 2.5, roof 1.5 and floor 0.8. The volumetric specific heat capacity of the air is 1300 J/m3K. The output of the radiators is 440 W/m2 of radiating surface.

Note:

a) Calculate the net rate of heat loss from this building.
b) Calculate the surface area of the radiators required to maintain the internal temperature under the above conditions.
2500 kg pickup accelerates from 0 to 100 km/hr in 10 s along level road. What would be corresponding time when pulling 500 kg trailer? Assume constant acceleration and neglect all retarding forces.
hi.......m sonam..pls can you tell me how we got equation of modulated wave as c(t)+m(t)sin wct in amplitude modulation ?where c(t)=ac sin wct that is eqution of carrier wave m(t)=amsin wmt that is equation of modulating wave
please help me out and solve my doubt.
Hampson and Walker also made measurements of the heats of sublimation of
rhodium and iridium. Do the following calculations for each of the two given sets of
data:
a Make a histogram.
b Make a stem-and-leaf plot.
с Make a boxplot.
d Plot the observations in the order of the experiment.
e Does that statistical model of independent and identically distributed
measurement errors seem reasonable?
f Find the mean, 10% and 20% trimmed means, and median and compare them.
g Find the standard error of the sample mean and a corresponding approximate
90% confidence interval.
h Find a confidence interval based on the median that has as close to 90% coverage
as possible.
i Use the bootstrap to approximate the sampling distributions of the 10% and 20%
trimmed means and their standard errors and compare.
j Use the bootstrap to approximate the sampling distribution of the median and its
standard error. Compare to the corresponding results for trimmed means above.
к Find approximate 90% confidence intervals based on the trimmed means and
compare to the intervals for the mean and median found previously.
