In the same amount of time he could also read 30 pages of economics and 60 pages of history. (a) Assuming that the number of pages per hour that he can read of either subject does not depend on how he allocates his time, how many pages of history could he read if he decided to spend all of his time on history and none on economics? (b) How many pages of economics could he read if she decided to spend all of his time reading economics?

a. He can read 40 pages of economics and 30 pages of history

If he forgoes 10 pages of economics the number of history pages read increases by 30.

So if 10"=" 30 pages what about 40 pages. This gives us 120 pages plus the normal 30 history pages that can be read which equals to 150

The answer is 150 pages of history.

b. From the first step 10 pages of economics read equals to 30 pages of history. So what about 150 pages of history. By solving we get 50 pages of economics.

The answer is 50 pages of economics
