What product(s) would you expect from each of the following reactions? Write the mechanism of the reactions and also mention the reason for the relative amount of products formation where necessary.

(b)CH3CH2 - C - CH3 strong base--> ?

CH3
[a]
CH3CHOHCH3 + HBr → CH3CHBrCH3 + H2O
This is the reaction between an alcohol and Hydrogen halide.
The -OH functional group is replaced by the halogen atom forming the Hydrocarbn halide i..e Propyl Bromide along with water H2O.
[b]
Hydrocarbon with strong base, the following reaction occurs:
CH3 - CH2 - CH - CH3 + NaOH = CH3 - CH2 - CH - CH2 Na + H2O

CH3 CH3
One of the H-atom will be replaced by Na and water are formed.
