CH3CHOHCH3 + HBr → CH3CHBrCH3 + H2O

This is the reaction between an alcohol and Hydrogen halide.

The -OH functional group is replaced by the halogen atom forming the Hydrocarbn halide i..e Propyl Bromide along with water H2O.

Hydrocarbon with strong base, the following reaction occurs:

CH3 - CH2 - CH - CH3 + NaOH = CH3 - CH2 - CH - CH2 Na + H2O

One of the H-atom will be replaced by Na and water are formed.
