For 2nd order reactions, the half life depends on the initial concentration, [A]o, and the rate constant k: hl = 1 / (k [A]o) hl * k [A]o = 1 Since the concentration is reduced to half of its original value at the end of its first half-life, the second half-life is twice as long as the first half life. Thus, a plot of [A] vs. t easily reveal the order of the reaction by tracking its half life.
