Answer: Liquid crystals are a state of matter. Liquid has the property of flowing and solid has the property of periodic arrangement of molecules. Liquid crystal are material which flow like liquid but it has the order arrangement of molecules as like a solid crystal.
Types of liquid crystal: Liquid crystals usually three types thermotropic, lyotropic, metalotropic. First two type liquid crystal usually made of organic molecules. Metallotrophic liquid crystal made of mixture of organic and inorganic molecules.
