Draw with labels, the orbitals involved in the bonding of CO to a transition metal.

Assuming the 18 electron rule is obeyed, write down the values of x, y and z and the oxidation state of the central metal in all of the following: [Cr(n^ 6 -C6H6)(CO)x] [Fe(n^ 5 -C5H5)2Hy] ^+ [Ti(CO)z] ^2-

Ca5(PO4)3F + 5H2SO4 = 3H3PO4 + 5CaSO4 + HF if 24.5 g Ca(PO4)3F is mixed with 89.7 g H2SO4, how much H3PO4 will form?

  1. A chemist wishes to make 5.00g of CuCl2(s) by the reaction:

CuCl2(aq) + Na2SO3(aq) + H2O(l) → CuCl(s) + Na2SO4(aq) + 2HCl(aq). How many grams of CuCl2 and of Na2CO3 should be used if the method gives an 85.0% yield, CuCl2 is to be the limiting reactant, and a 50.0% excess of Na2SO3 is to be used?

A hypothetical acid HA has a dissociation constant 1.8 𝑥 10ିଷ. a. Write a balanced dissociation reaction of the acid b. Write the equilibrium constant expression for the acid c. If the initial concentration of the acid is 0.5 M, determine its hydrogen ion concentration. d. Calculate the ionization constant e. Comment on the strength of the acid

The results of elemental analysis showed that poly-iodide salt, [(CH3)4N]Ix, contains 85.52 wt. % of iodine. What is the the molecular weight of this salt?

The reaction between polyiodide salts and AgNO3 is rather complex. However, for the purpose of gravimetric calculations it can be represented by a simple ionic equation between polyiodide anion and Ag+. For example, for tetra-methylammonium tri-iodide: [I3]- + 3 Ag+ --> 3 AgI You carried out gravimetry experiment using 0.202 g of tetra-methylammonium tri-iodide. What is the theoretical mass of AgI formed?

You are given 3.1569 g of a mixture of nickel(II) chloride hexahydrate and nickel(II) sulfate hexahydrate. You dissolve the mixture in 400 mL of deionised water, and add an excess of silver nitrate. You filter the precipitate off and dry it in an oven. The mass of the dry precipitate is 3.4088 g. How many grams of nickel(II) sulfate hexahydrate are in the mixture?

The reaction between the unknown Ni-salt and dimethylglyoxime can be expressed by the following chemical equation:

[NiA • 6H2O] + H2dmg + 2OH(aq) = Ni[dmg] + 8H2O

where,

NiA • 6H2O is unknown Ni-salt (which is hexahydrate and A is unknown anion)

H2dmg is dimethylglyoxime

Ni[dmg]2 is bis(dimethylglyoximato)nickel complex which is insoluble in water

You successfully isolated and dried Ni[dmg]2 and got the mass of 1.1899 g.

What is the molecular mass of the unknown NiA • 6H2O salt if you were given 1.3451 g of the salt?

A student carried out an experiment trying to prepare tetra-methyl-ammonium tri-iodide.

The student weighed 0.94 g tetra-methyl-ammonium iodide into a beaker containing 25 mL ethanol, and then added 1.22 g of iodine. The mixture was heated gently, whilst stirring, on a hotplate until tetra-methyl-ammonium iodide, a white powder, was completely dissolved. After the mixture was allowed to cool down to room temperature, the mixture was further cooled on ice. After filtration on a Buechner funnel, washing with diethyl ether and leaving it under vacuum suction for a couple of minutes, the student recovered the product and weighed it. The mass of the obtained tetra-methyl-ammonium triiodide was 0.21 g.

What is the yield of the reaction in percent [%]?
