Answer to Question #77447 in Organic Chemistry for shihab

Question #77447
1. “A reversible process is never attained in practice. It can only be approached” Justify this
statement by giving any two appropriate examples.
2a. Elucidate thermodynamic Property Relations for Single Phase Systems. [
b. Critically evaluate Origins of Deviation from Ideal Gas Behaviour.
3. A measure of unavailable energy in a closed thermodynamic system is considered to be
entropy. Two containers in a system each 1.2 m3 in volume are isolated from one another valve.
One contains oxygen at 7 atmosphere and 1600C. The value is opened and the gases are allowed
to mix. Assuming the process is adiabatic, and the gases are ideal.
a. Determine the equilibrium temperature.
b. Determine equilibrium pressure of the mixture.
c. Determine the changes of entropy associated with the system as a whole.
The values of the molar heats at constant volume Cv for the constituents are:
O2 -------- 21.0kJ/mol0K
CO2 ----- 28.3kJ/mol0K
