I was assigned a paper about liquid waste management and i was given a liquid waste with BOD range of 300 - 4000. I am stuck at the dilution processes. I have to do at least 5 dilutions but i cant figure out the correct way. Please help.

The BOD level of a sample depends on the quantity of

organic matter present, which can vary considerably.

BOD is represented in mg/L.


Assuming your volume of the diluted substance is V2 and the BOD value is C1, you can use the formula

C1V1 = C2V2 to calculate the volume (V1) of the stock organic matter you need for the specified concentration.
