Why is it that an Atom with 5 Valence Electron is considered to have 1 Lone pair and 3 Single electrons for bonding instead of being seen as having 2 lone pairs and one single electron for bonding?
Consider a solution that is 0.10 M in a weak triprotic acid which is represented by the gen- eral formula H3A with ionization constants K1 = 1.0×10−3, K2 = 1.0×10−8, and K3 = 1.0×10−12. What is the pH of the solution?
If 96.5 moles of an ideal gas occupies 41.5 liters at 301 K, what is the pressure of the gas?
hydrogen ion increases when 1 liter of water is added to i liter of acetic acid ,
why?
Hydrogen, iodine, and hydrogen iodide gases have reached equilibrium in a container at 700K. Equilibrium partial pressures are 0.28 atm HI, 0.033 atm H2, and 0.045 atm I2. For H2 (g) + I2 (g) --> 2HI, K=53. Half the HI is removed form the container and equilibrium is reestablished. Calculate the new partial pressure (in atm) of HI in the new equilibrium mixture.

THE REACTIONS OF METAL WITH ACIDS LAB: Aluminium (powder), manganese, lead, iron, zinc, copper and tin are reacted with both hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid (H2SO4) and then used a wooden splint to light the inside of the test tube reaction.
1a) Was a gas produced in each case?
b) List the metals for which a gas was produced
c) Identify the gas produced, when the flaming splint test was positive.
2) What is the source of gas??
3) Write a balanced chemical equations for all of the reactions in which metal was observed to react.
4) Compare the reactions involving hydrochloric acid with those involving sulphuric acid.
5) Rank( calcium, sodium, potassium, and the 8 from this lab) plus hydrogen in order of decreasing reactivity! ....hint, activity series
6) Suggest a possible explanation why some metals react vigorously with acid or water while other metals do not appear to react at all.
PLEASE HELP WITH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!
Hi, (Grade 11 Level)
I have a chemistry newsletter to do and I wanted help with starting me off with the basic information.
This is what the sheet basically asks for: You will research an industrial process that involves the use of one type of reaction((synthesis, decomposition, single displacement, double displacement and neutralization.) and design a newsletter to inform your community about the type of chemical reaction used in an industrial process and analyse and asses its impact on the society and the environment.a) Brief description of the type of reaction used in the industrial process, clearly identifying the reactants and the products, balanced chemical reaction, word equation, any special conditions(i.e. temperature etc)used to carry out the reaction and classifying the reaction type.
b) Describe the industrial process in detail(with any PRODUCTS or BY-PRODUCTS)
c) Describe health effects of some of the chemicals that are released into the environment as a result of the process(such as dioxins).
A silver nitrate solution was standardized by dissolving 0.54 grams of NaCl into 120 ml of solution using 4.0 drops of 1.0M K2CrO4 for an indicator (1ml=20 drops). Upon titrating with 43.6 ml of AgNO3, the Ag2CrO4 just began to precipitate. At this point in the titration the system reaches equilibrium and therefore Qsp for silver chromate is equal to Ksp of silver chromate and Qsp for silver chloride is equal to Ksp for AgCl.

A.) calculate the equilibrium concentration of chromate ion.
B.) calculate the equilibrium concentration of the silver ion
C.) calculate the equilibrium concentration of the chloride ion
D.) calculate the percent Cl- remaining in solution
E.) calculate the molarity of the AgNO3 solution used
