calomel is?
Calomel is a dense, soft, white, odourless, and tasteless halide mineral. It is represented by the chemical formula "Hg_2Cl_2" and is also called mercurous chloride, or mercury (I) chloride.
It was used by Paracelsian physicians in the 16th century to treat malaria and yellow fever, but is no longer used due to the high probability of mercury poisoning in the case of overdosage.
