Answer to Question #76560 in General Chemistry for danica

Question #76560
Suppose two identical tablets are dropped into two glasses of water respectively. Glass 1 contains 100 mL of water while Glass 2 contains 200 mL of water.
Assuming all reactants are completely used up,

Solution:
Based on the condition, the two tablets are the same. So they have the same mass, the degree of solubility in water, the same concentration of the substance in their composition and accordingly the same amount of substance (number of moles). Also from the condition it is known that in two glasses there is water, in one 100ml and in another 200ml. In this case, water is a solvent for tablets. Assuming that the tablets are completely dissolved in each of the glasses, we know that in each glass the same amount of substance. Due to the fact that we have a different volume of solvent (water) in glasses, we have solutions of the same amount of dissolved substance that are different in concentration. Consequently, in both glasses the solution will be qualitatively the same and quantitatively different, namely, in a glass with a volume of water of 100ml, the concentration of the solution will be 2 times higher than in a glass with a volume of water of 200ml.
