The first part of my assignment is to determine whether or not the following compounds are polar or nonpolar: NCl3, SCl2, Br2, SiBr4, CS2, CH3OH, H2O2, C6H14 and to draw the molecular shape of each. What I'm confused about is whether I should consider the EN difference or the geometric shape of the molecule (I also don't know how to determine if the shape is symmetrical or not?) The second part of my assignment asks you to compare your results the experimental evidence (which says there are only 3 polar substances) and to reconsider H2O2. any idea why H2O2 would be a trick?
