A first-order reaction has a rate proportional to the concentration of one reactant.
rate=k[A], rate=k[B]
A second-order reaction has a rate proportional to the product of the concentrations of two reactants, or to the square of the concentration of a single reactant.
rate=k[C]^2
That is why: rate=k[A][B][C]^2
