As we inhale oxygen but why we can't inhale nitrogen?

Nitrogen is inert gas – it is less reactive. That is why it is inhaled and exhaled in equal amounts. Human and animals breathe oxygen because they have hemoglobin to bind O2. It is bound with hemoglobin of red blood cells and is carried through the body.
