How do the atomic radii of the halogens compare with their ionic radii?
In halide Ion the outer electron no is higher than halogen atom. So the shielding effect will be more in halogen atom that means the core positive charge will pull the outer electrons more to words core as compare to the halide ions.. But as in case of halide Ion the outer electrons are more than core positive charge it attracted less.. Thats size shrinks in case of halide ions.
