Answer to Question #304422 in General Chemistry for Del

Question #304422

Consider the following reaction:

2 NO + 2 H2 → N2 + 2 H2O

a.   The rate law for this reaction is first order in H2 and second order NO. Write the rate law.

b.   If the rate constant for this reaction at 1000 Kelvin is 6.0 x 104 M -2 s-1, What is the reaction rate when [NO] = 0.025 M and [H2] = 0.015 M?

2NO + 2Н2 → N2 + 2H2O

a. R = k[NO]2[H2]1

b. R = 6.0 x 104 M-2s-1 x (0.025 M)2 x (0.015 M) = 0.5625 M/s
